Yes! You can do them on the same day and we recommend that you start with red light before your cryotherapy session. The benefits of cryo is in having your body work to naturally warm itself up. Red light therapy warms your body, and while it may seem like it’d be nice to go from cold to warm, you actually get the best results letting your body warm up naturally.
Whole body cryotherapy (a.k.a. Cryo, some people even call it body freezing therapy) is the exposure of an individual to extremely low temperatures (-140 C or -220 F) for 3 minutes in order to decrease pain and inflammation and boost hormone and neurotransmitter levels. The result is reduced recovery time and pain from intense workouts, injuries, and chronic conditions increased energy levels, anti-aging, and mood-boosting effects.
Cryotherapy machines were originally developed in the 1970s in order to help people that suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. When dramatic improvements were seen in patients (decreased swelling, decreased pain, increased mobility) researchers began to look at whole-body cryotherapy as a treatment modality for other diseases such as rheumatism, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Eventually, athletes discovered cryotherapy’s benefits and it has now become widely adopted.
A session in the chamber lasts only three minutes. For your first session, we book a total of 20 minutes to complete the required forms and briefings. Subsequent visits take at most eight minutes in total.
You don’t need to worry about bringing anything with you. We have everything you need on-site including clean gloves, socks, slippers, and a robe.
Yes, you burn 500-800 calories of fat after each session, but not in the 3 minutes that comprise your session (that would be impossible!). Cryotherapy increases your base metabolic rate which allows you to burn 500-800 calories throughout the day. However, it is important to keep in mind that Cryotherapy does not replace diet or exercise!
You never have to worry about warming up after a cryotherapy session. You may feel cold spots on the surface of your skin, but you warm up immediately after stepping out of the machine. In fact, due to the sudden increase in your base metabolic rate and calorie burn, you will feel warm after your session and don’t have to worry about extra layers, hot drinks, or doing a sauna to warm up or increase blood flow. Cryotherapy does all of that for you!
Describing the feeling of a treatment is like standing in front of a freezer on a hot day. It’s a chill but not painful. If you have ever done an ice bath or a cold shower, you have endured much worse than a cryotherapy treatment. Sessions at Vital Cryotherapy are completely dry and after 3 minutes in the chamber, you immediately warm up and no longer feel cold.
The frequency of cryotherapy sessions can vary based on individual needs and goals. Typically, it’s recommended to start with 2-3 sessions per week for the first month. After that, you can adjust based on how your body responds and your specific health objectives. Our specialists can help you develop a personalized plan.
Many clients report feeling immediate benefits, such as reduced pain and increased energy, after their first session. However, for more significant and lasting results, it usually takes a series of sessions over several weeks. Consistency is key to maximizing the benefits of cryotherapy.
While we do not offer trial sessions, we always have you do your session first then decide what pricing option works best for you. We don’t expect people to purchase a package or subscription if they haven’t experienced the benefits of cryotherapy before.
Cryotherapy is a dry cold versus the wet coldness of cold plunges. This means the temperature of cryotherapy can be lower but more tolerable. You’ll also find that your body will feel normal/warm immediately coming out of the chamber compared to getting out of a cold shower. Since we are hitting lower temperatures we are able to more than double the effects of the traditional cold exposure.
